The contract amounts to 12,146,353 euros and has a completion period of twelve months.

Third rail installation project
The project for the installation of a third standard gauge rail on the Astigarraga-Irun route, which will give continuity to the Vitoria-Bilbao-San Sebastian high speed line and will allow its connection with the French border, involves a global investment of 165 million Euros, distributed in different contracts, already awarded, which include actions on the track, the overhead contact line, signaling and communications.
It also includes the adaptation of tunnels, metallic structures, stations and halts to mixed gauge, so that the infrastructure can cater for the new operation without affecting the activities currently being carried out.
The necessary modifications to the catenary will also be addressed, as well as the modification of the signaling and communications installations in the Hernani-Irun section of the conventional railway network -the Astigarraga junction and the San Sebastian station are excluded in these actions.
Previously, Adif carried out the track renewal work between San Sebastian and Irun, with an investment of 40 million euros, which focused on the installation of mixed gauge sleepers, rail renewal and ballast settlement.
